If you’ve bought a new vehicle or changed your car, you’ll need to update your insurance policy before you start driving the new vehicle. Driving a vehicle that isn’t listed on your policy could invalidate your cover.
| Important: You must not drive your new vehicle until your policy has been updated. Driving an uninsured vehicle is illegal and could invalidate any claim. |
Can I Update My Vehicle Online?
Yes — all INSHUR policyholders can now update their vehicle directly from their dashboard, including customers paying by monthly instalments through Premium Credit.
Log in to your dashboard, select ‘Change Details’ and follow the steps to update your vehicle details.
You can Login following this link.
What Information Do I Need?
When changing your vehicle, you’ll need to provide:
- New vehicle registration number
- Make, model, and year of the vehicle
- Estimated value of the vehicle
- Number of seats
- Any modifications to the vehicle
| Eligibility: Your new vehicle must still meet our eligibility requirements. For Taxi policies, the vehicle must hold a valid licence plate from the relevant licencing authority. |
What Is a Mid-Term Adjustment (MTA)?
A vehicle change is a type of mid-term adjustment (MTA). This means it is a change made to your policy during the current policy period.
When you change your vehicle, your premium may go up or down depending on the value and type of your new vehicle. We will give you a revised quote before you confirm the change.
What are the fees?
Our current fees applicable are detailed in our ‘Terms of Business’ document also emailed to you when you accept/renew a policy.
How Long Does a Vehicle Change Take?
If you make the change online via your dashboard, your updated certificate of insurance is usually available immediately or within 30 minutes.
What If My New Vehicle Doesn’t Meet INSHUR’s Eligibility?
If your new vehicle falls outside our eligibility criteria (for example, it has unapproved modifications), we may not be able to offer you continued cover. In this case, you would need to seek insurance elsewhere and cancel your INSHUR policy.
See ‘How do I cancel my policy?’ for information on cancellations and any applicable refund.
