After you buy an INSHUR policy, we may ask you to provide proof of certain information you declared during your quote. This is called the validation process. It is a standard part of buying insurance, and your policy remains active while you complete it.
Why Do We Need to Validate Your Documents?
Insurance is based on the information you provide when you get a quote. Validation allows us to confirm that this information is accurate, which protects both you and us. It is a regulatory requirement for many types of insurance.
What Documents Might You Need to Provide?
CBT & Driving Licence
Depending on your vehicle and license type we may ask you to provide a copy of your CBT or driving licence. To confirm your licence details, including any endorsements or convictions. We accept full UK driving licences (DVLA or DVA issued).
No Claims Discount (NCD) Proof
If you declared a No Claims Discount when getting your quote, we will ask you to provide a copy of your NCD certificate from your previous insurer. This must show the number of claim-free years you have earned.
For more information on NCD please see this linked Help Centre Article.
How and Where Do I Upload My Documents?
On the first day your policy starts, you'll receive an email from us with a secure link. This link takes you to a simple upload page where you can send us your documents directly.
- Open the email and click the link inside it
- You may be asked to agree to how we handle your data — please accept this to continue
- Take a clear photo of your document, or upload a saved file from your device
- Submit and you're done — you'll receive a confirmation once we've received it
Accepted file formats: PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, GIF
Maximum file size: 10MB (most phone photos are well under this)
| Tip: Make sure your document image is clear, well-lit, and shows all four corners. Blurry or incomplete images may be rejected, causing delays. |
How Long Do I Have to Submit My Documents?
The link is active for 7 days from your policy start date, so there's no need to rush — but please don't leave it to the last minute.
You'll also receive reminder emails at 48 hours and 24 hours before the deadline, just in case.
What Happens If I Don’t Submit My Documents?
If you do not provide the required documents within the specified timeframe, your policy may be cancelled. You will be notified by email about your policy being cancelled.
If your policy is cancelled due to validation failure, you may not be entitled to a refund and the cancellation may need to be declared to future insurers.
What Happens If My Documents Are Rejected?
We will let you know if your document has been rejected and the reason why. Common reasons include:
- Image is too blurry or cropped
- Document is expired
- NCD certificate shows fewer years than declared
- NCD was earned on Social & Domestic Policy
- Details on the document do not match your policy
If your document is rejected, you will be given the opportunity to resubmit. If you believe a rejection is in error, please contact us at help@inshur.com.
I Don't Have My NCD Proof Yet - What Do I Do?
Most insurers provide NCD proof within a few days of a policy ending. If you've requested it but are waiting, contact us at help@inshur.com to let us know. Don't wait until the deadline passes without telling us.
